How do you pick a product that can make money?
A product is worth launching only if the numbers work after every cost, not just the factory price. We check:
- Demand: steady sales across the year, not a one-season spike.
- Competition: how established the top listings are, and whether you can offer something better.
- Full cost: unit cost, freight, duties, Amazon's referral and FBA fees, ad spend and returns.
- Restrictions: category approvals, safety testing and claims rules that could block the product or add cost.
- A reason to choose you: a real improvement, bundle or angle, not just a new logo on the same item.
We'll also tell you when an idea doesn't work. That's the most valuable thing research can do.
How do we vet suppliers?
- Confirm the business is real, how long it has been trading, and whether it's a factory or a trading company.
- Get comparable quotes from several suppliers against one written specification.
- Order and compare samples before choosing.
- Ask for existing test reports, and check they cover your exact product.
- Agree payment terms, lead times and shipping terms in writing.
- Plan a pre-shipment inspection for the first order.
What paperwork should you keep from day one?
Keep invoices in your business's name with the supplier's details and quantities, plus packing lists, test reports and inspection reports. If Amazon ever runs an authenticity or verification review, these are the documents it asks for. See what Amazon looks for in invoices.
