“Notification of restricted products removal”

Amazon removed one or more of your listings under its Restricted Products policy. Often the trigger is a word on the listing rather than the product itself, and many of these removals can be reversed if you fix the right thing.

Short answer

Often, yes. If the flag came from wording on the listing or missing documents, you can fix the detail page or supply the documents and request reinstatement from Account Health. If the product itself is prohibited on Amazon, it usually can't be relisted.

What does the restricted products removal notice mean?

Amazon has decided the listing falls into a restricted category and doesn't meet the rules for that category. Restricted categories include pesticides, drugs and supplements, medical devices, hazardous materials and many others. The listing is removed, but your account usually isn't.

The notice names the policy and the affected ASINs. Read the policy name carefully: it tells you which team reviews your request and what evidence that team accepts.

What usually triggers it?

  • Pesticide claims. Any claim that a product kills, repels or prevents germs, bacteria, mold, mildew, viruses or insects. Amazon treats these as pesticides, which need an EPA registration or a valid exemption.
  • Health or disease claims. Words like cures, treats or prevents on products that aren't approved drugs or devices.
  • Restricted ingredients. An ingredient on one of Amazon's restricted lists, or one Amazon believes is in the product.
  • Wrong category or attributes. A product listed in the wrong category, or a compliance attribute left blank or filled in incorrectly.
  • Images and packaging. Claims printed on the box or shown in photos count, even if the text of the listing is clean.

Is the problem your listing or your product?

This decides the whole fix, so answer it first.

If it's the listing, remove the claim everywhere it appears: title, bullets, description, A+ content, images, packaging photos and backend search terms. Then request reinstatement. Amazon reviews the live detail page, not just your message.

If it's the product, you need documents that show it's allowed. For a pesticide product that might be the EPA registration and establishment numbers. For an ingredient flag it might be a lab report showing the ingredient isn't present.

If the product is genuinely prohibited, there's nothing to appeal. Create a removal order for any FBA stock so you aren't paying fees on inventory you can't sell.

How do you request reinstatement?

  1. Find the violation. Open Performance > Account Health and select the restricted products violation for the ASIN.
  2. Fix the listing before you write anything. For pesticide products, Amazon generally expects the EPA registration number in the listing's pesticide marking attribute, not only in your message.
  3. Attach documents that match exactly. Product name, formula, model and company name should be the same on the documents and the listing.
  4. Explain briefly. What was wrong, what you changed, and how you'll check new listings so it doesn't happen again.
  5. Check similar ASINs. If one listing used the claim, others probably do too. Fix them before Amazon finds them.

What if Amazon keeps rejecting the request?

Templated rejections are common with restricted products. Sending the same request again rarely changes the answer. Read the rejection for the specific item it says is missing, confirm the listing and attributes really show it, and send one complete request with all the evidence together. See why appeals get rejected.

Questions sellers ask

Can a restricted products removal be appealed?

Often, yes. If the flag came from wording on the listing or missing documents, you can fix the detail page or supply the documents and request reinstatement from Account Health. If the product itself is prohibited on Amazon, it usually can't be relisted.

Why was my product flagged when it isn't restricted?

Amazon's automated review reads titles, bullet points, descriptions, images and search terms. Words like antibacterial, kills germs or mold resistant can classify a product as a pesticide, and words like cures or treats can classify it as making a drug claim.

Does this affect my account health?

Yes. Restricted product violations appear in Account Health and count toward your Account Health Rating. Several in a short period can put the whole account at risk, so fix the cause on every similar listing, not only the one flagged.

Should I create a new listing instead?

No. Relisting the same product under a new ASIN to avoid the review can be treated as going around Amazon's policies, which is far more serious than the original removal.
