1. It blames Amazon or the buyer
Even when a complaint feels unfair, an appeal that argues with Amazon or blames a customer reads as not taking responsibility. Amazon wants to see that you understand the problem from its side and have changed something.
2. The root cause is vague
"We made a mistake" or "an employee error" isn't a root cause. Amazon wants the specific reason: which product, which process, what went wrong, and why. A vague cause signals that the problem could happen again.
3. The fixes don't match the problem
If the issue is sourcing, promising better customer service doesn't help. Each corrective action should tie directly to the root cause, and each preventive measure should explain how it stops a repeat.
4. The documents don't hold up
- Invoices that don't cover the units you sold
- Business names or addresses that don't match Seller Central
- Retail receipts or order confirmations instead of supplier invoices
- Anything that looks edited. This is the fastest way to lose an account for good.
5. It's a template
Amazon reviewers read huge numbers of appeals, and copied templates are easy to spot. A Plan of Action should read like it was written about your business and your case.
6. It's too long, or answers the wrong question
Long, emotional letters bury the answer. A good appeal is short, organized, and responds to exactly what the notice asked for, in the order a reviewer would check it.
What to do after a rejection
- Read the rejection carefully. It often hints at what was missing.
- Don't resubmit the same appeal with small edits.
- Fix the gap first, whether that's documents, a clearer root cause, or a real process change.
- Then submit one complete, rewritten appeal.
